Mike Scharf
Mite Team 1 | ADM Director
Coach Mike Scharf is a 37 year hockey veteran and Cleveland native who grew up in the Independence/Seven Hills area, and he currently resides in North Royalton, OH.  Mike began his young playing career right here under this very roof of Forestwood ice rink back in 1985 (and yes, Nancy Kappel was the mite Queen Bee back then just as she still sits to this date!).

He continued his youth hockey career in the CSHL, just like the very kids he currently coaches, until moving on up and attending Padua Franciscan High School where he was a 3 year varsity hockey letterman and team captain his senior season.  After high school, Mike continued playing at the collegiate level at University of Findlay in Findlay, OH.  Coach mike has always loved the game of hockey and was fortunate enough to have played at many levels allowing him to travel throughout the US, Canada and even Europe during his career.  His hockey coaching experience also took root at a young age as he began instructing in multiple summer hockey and power skating camps/schools throughout the Cleveland suburban area during his high school and college years.

Coach Mike is currently level 3 USA hockey certified, and has been coaching here for PHA since 2017.  Mike is currently the co-ADM director for PHA with his ADM director and partner coach Bob Waltzers.  Mike is an orthopedic physical therapist by day as well as a hockey coach by night.  He's currently head coaching the Mite 2 red team as well as the Mite 5 blue team this 2022-23 season.  He has 2 sons currently playing mite hockey here at PHA: Luca (2014) and Rocco (2017).  He is also the father to 2 beautiful daughters: Rosalia and Gianna.

Coach Mike enjoys being around the rink as he not only coaches but continues to play adult league hockey on the regular in his ripe old age.  He now takes pride in the opportunity to inspire, encourage and coach the many wonderful kids here at PHA.  He feels fortunate to be able to share his hockey knowledge and passion with the next generation!

After all, hockey is all about making friends, making memories and having fun...so let's do just that and have a great season!
Pete Kraguljac
President
Coach Pete is a Cleveland native who grew up on the lower west side and currently resides in Parma, OH. Coach Pete spent most of his years in youth hockey playing for North Olmsted before going on to play High School hockey for Olmsted Falls. Pete moved to Phoenix in 2000 to attend Arizona State University where he received a film degree and wrapped up his playing days on their club team (rumor has it that he was not that good, and extremely injury prone).

From 2006 to 2011 Pete ran the mini-mite program in North Olmsted where all three of his children learned to skate before coming to Parma where he has spent past 13 seasons coaching at almost every level we have to offer. His experience is as follows:
  • 22-23 Mighty Mites
  • 21-22 Peewee B
  • 20-21 Bantam A3
  • 19-20 Bantam A1
  • 18-19 Squirt AA
  • 16-17 Red 1 | BTM
  • 15-16 Red 1 | BTM
  • 14-15 White 1 | Red 2 | BTM
  • 13-14 Blue
  • 12-13 Mini Mites
  • 06-12 Mini/Mighty NOHC
  • 05-06 NOHS
  • 01-02 Chandler HS

In addition to the teams Pete has coached, he has spent a majority of his time within our program as one of our goalie coaches leading our clinics. During his early years he was responsible for executing the ADM model and running those practices. Back in 2014 he started a program called build the middle where over three seasons he coached seventh and eighth graders with little to no skating experience and prepared them to play High School hockey. Pete is now in his sixth year as our President, in which he served five years as a general board member prior to becoming the Head of Program.

Outside of hockey Pete works as a creative director and engineer for a local software company as well as a freelance photographer. Pete is a single dad with two amazing daughters; Brianna who is pre law student at BGSU and Kaitlyn who is pre med student Kent State University. Pete's son Xander spent 10 seasons wearing the red white and blue for Parma and is now a junior at St. Ignatius High School where he continues to play as a Wildcat.
Ken Ledford
Mini Mites
If a child can skate, they most likely learned from Ken. Coach Ledford is a member of our Hall of Fame and has been coaching Mini Mites longer than any of our other coaches have been in Parma.
